Los Padres ForestWatch’s Bowl to Be Wild tournament and fundraiser will be 1-4 pm. Aug. 17 at Santa Barbara Lawn Bowls Club, 1216 De La Vina St.

During the lawn bowling competition and summer fun day, guests can learn to lawn bowl and play on the greens all afternoon, even if they don’t want to compete.

Free lawn bowling lessons and tacos are included with entry tickets, as are other exhibits and activities, such as a raffle, bake sale, and ForestWatch merchandise booth. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

For the tournament, teams of up to four players will compete for a grand prize. Team players can be of any age and do not need to have prior lawn bowling experience.

Everyone will have a chance to learn on the day, and teams playing in the tournament can continue to play after elimination.

Proceeds from the event benefit Los Padres ForestWatch, a local nonprofit organization. ForestWatch staff will be on hand to update guests on the group’s current work.

ForestWatch’s mission is to protect wildlife, wilderness, water, and sustainable access throughout the Los Padres National Forest and Carrizo Plain National Monument through education, advocacy, and when necessary, legal action for the benefit of communities, climate, and future generations.
