Santa Barbara County sheriff’s detectives are looking for witnesses after arresting a suspect in a sexual assault that happened in Isla Vista on Saturday morning.

Detectives arrested Damian Silverio, 22, on multiple felony charges, including kidnapping to commit rape, rape by force or fear, false imprisonment, criminal threats, domestic violence and preventing a victim from calling 9-1-1, according to Raquel Zick, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

Silverio was arrested after sheriff’s deputies received a report of a sexual assault on the 6500 block of Trigo Road. The survivor of the assault knew Silverio and reportedly endured an hours-long physical and sexual attack, Zick said.

At one point, she reported, she was able to escape into a common area before being forced back into an apartment.

Silverio was booked into the county’s Main Jail and is being held without bail, according to Zick.
