Carpinteria High football kicked off its 2025 season by rolling to a 52-7 victory over Santa Clara on Friday in Oxnard.

“It was a great start to the season for the Warriors,” Carpinteria High head coach Van Latham said. “We performed well in all three phases of the game. We take pride on our special team play and it came through tonight.

“Our special teams set us up with favorable field position and points all night.

Quarterback Isaac Neri dominated the opening phases of the game, scoring on a 7-yard, 21-yard and 14-yard run in each of the team’s first three possessions to put the Warriors up 21-0.

After Santa Clara scored its lone touchdown of the night, Neri got right back to work with another 14-yard touchdown run to give Carpinteria a 27-7 lead at halftime.

The Warriors came out of the break on fire as Drew Filippini opened the second half with a 69-yard kickoff return and followed that up with a 20-yard touchdown run to bring the lead to 33-7.

Filippini scored once again on the next Carpinteria possession, this time a 6-yard run. The Filippini show continued later in the second half as he returned a punt 60 yards to the endzone for a 45-7 advantage in the third quarter.

The Warriors rounded out the scoring on the defensive side of the ball as Filippini jumped in front of a pass and returned it 28 yards for his fourth touchdown of the half and the 52-7 lead.

Filippini ended the night with 72 rushing yards and 177 total return yards to go along with his four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Neri rushed for 48 yards and four scores in one half. Chris Jaimes led the rushing attack with 82 yards on six carries.

Meanwhile, the Carpinteria defense held Santa Clara to just 107 total yards.

The Warriors will host San Gabriel next Friday at 7 p.m. for their home opener.
