It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Cornwall, who left us peacefully on Dec. 4, 2024.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1937, Barbara lived a long and fulfilling life, and touched countless others with her warmth, creativity, love for life, friends and family.
Barbara moved to Santa Barbara in 1972, where she became a part of the local community. Barbara worked at Hunts, a prestigious gift shop in Santa Barbara, where she was surrounded by many beautiful things.
She dedicated her time working as a teacher’s assistant in the Santa Barbara School District, Dos Pueblos and San Marco high schools. She volunteered at voting polls and she was part of the Wagon Wheel welcoming committee to help welcome people moving to Santa Barbara.
Travel was another love of Barbara’s great passions. She enjoyed taking cruises to Alaska, visiting historic museums in Italy, and she even traveled the long distance to visit the Great Wall in China.
Barbara also enjoyed square dancing, ballroom dancing, and was an avid bowler winning awards regularly. She was very accomplished at needlework and crafts, and won many first-place awards at fairs.
Barbara married her second husband Edward Cornwall, the love of her life, in 1987. A great success story. They shared a marriage filled with love, laughter, family, friendship and travel.
Barbara is lovingly remembered by her three sons, daughter, one stepdaughter, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Barbara had a zest for life, and she enjoyed meeting new people. She was friendly to everyone. Her presence, fun-loving and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
Her absence will be profoundly felt, but her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her.
