A Los Padres National Forest firefighter was rescued from Cathedral Peak after reported heat exhaustion Wednesday afternoon.
The Santa Barbara County Copter 308 hoist rescued and transported the man to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital around 3:15 p.m., about two hours after the initial emergency call.
The 1:16 p.m. emergency call reported the incident on the 1900 block of East Camino Cielo, in the mountains above Santa Barbara.
County Fire spokesperson Karen Cruz-Orduña said the firefighter was “performing a fitness/exercise activity, went down on Cathedral Peak, and got heat exhausted.”
Santa Barbara City Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service and Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue personnel also responded to the rescue call.
