The community is invited to celebrate Lincoln Elementary School’s All Year Reunion party, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at Shoreline Park.
Alumni asked to share memories of their days at Lincoln Elementary, which was at Cota and Santa Barbara streets.
Alum Marvin Gibson will lead the ceremony, which starts with a tribute at noon, followed by an open mic for others to offer their remembrances of Lincoln School.
Hamburgers, soft drinks and cake will be served at no cost. Bring a side dish to share, as the event is a potluck.
Lincoln School was Santa Barbara’s first elementary school, opened in 1871 at the corner of Cota and Santa Barbara streets. It served the downtown neighborhood until its closure in 1979.
The site was sold to the city of Santa Barbara and has been the location of the city’s Cota Street parking lot for 40 years. The city’s new police station is currently under construction on the property.
