Three people were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash south of Orcutt.
Shortly after 4 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and American Medical Response were dispatched to southbound Highway 135 near the northbound Y, where 135 and Highway 1 split.
The crash involved two vehicles, one of which crossed from the northbound lanes into the southbound lanes, according to emergency dispatch reports.
Two occupants from one vehicle were transported by AMR ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center, while the driver of the second vehicle also was taken to the hospital, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.
All three patients had moderate injuries, Safechuck added.
CHP officers from the Santa Maria area were investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
One lane was closed for approximately an hour due the crash and investigation.
The crash was one of two major collisions to occur in 24 hours, Safechuck said.
“Please take an extra moment to drive focused, stay alert, and maintain a safe speed. Every mile counts,” he added.
