As Giving Tuesday approaches on Dec. 2, the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation (LHDF) invites community members to join its mission to expand access to quality healthcare by supporting the opening of the new Lompoc Health – Village Center.

The foundation is participating in Giving Tuesday, the annual global fundraising initiative held on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving as a way for people to focus on giving back to their communities and nonprofits.

“The foundation is currently raising funds to help bring this much-needed clinic in Vandenberg Village to reality,” LHDF said.

The new Village Center, expected to open next summer, will provide expanded walk-in urgent care, primary care and specialty services, as well as a lab draw station and eventually x-ray services, the foundation said.

“Reliable healthcare shouldn’t come with long waits or long drives,” said Peter Masado, foundation fund development manager. “This Giving Tuesday, a gift to the Lompoc Hospital District Foundation, supports the new Lompoc Health – Village Center, helping build a stronger and healthier Lompoc for our families and neighbors.

“Giving Tuesday inspired more than $3.6 billion in charitable contributions worldwide last year. We would be honored to see our community take part in this spirit of generosity by supporting a cause right in our community.”

Funds raised through Giving Tuesday will directly support interior construction of the clinic, including patient-care spaces and other necessary improvements to the facility.

Community members can make a secure, tax-deductible donation online at www.lompocvmc.com/the-foundation/.

The foundation also welcomes tribute gifts made in honor or memory of loved ones. A gift of any size, large or small, helps the foundation’s fundraising efforts.
