The Christmas season officially begins Dec. 7 as All Saints By-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Montecito invites the community to gather for its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Festival from 4 to 6 p.m.

Following the tremendous success of last year’s inaugural festival, organizer Mary Richards said the church, at 83 Eucalyptus Lane, is thrilled to once again host a festive evening centered on community, tradition and holiday joy.

The Rev. Channing Smith, rector of All Saints, said more than 350 people attended last year’s celebration.

“We loved how many people enjoyed an old-fashioned Christmas,” Smith said. “We were grateful that the community responded so warmly.”

The highlight of the festival will be the lighting of the community Christmas tree — a magical moment that signals the start of the Advent season for children and adults alike.

The evening will feature a wide range of family-friendly activities, including a petting zoo, balloon animals, merrymaker crafts, a cake walk and hot chocolate.

Children can visit with Saint Nicholas, while the community choir fills the air with traditional Christmas carols.

Attendees can enjoy food and treats from a taco truck, Lindsay’s Little Bakery and a coffee cart.

A Christmas cactus sale will offer festive plants perfect for holiday décor or gifts.

Families are encouraged to stop by the photo booth to capture memories from the evening, and to arrive early to enjoy the full slate of activities before gathering to sing carols around the Christmas tree.
