The Santa Barbara Community Rowing racing team impressed with a strong showing at the Christmas Regatta last weekend in Long Beach.
“What a great end of our fall season and start of the sprint season,” SBCR coach Gracie Barbara said. “I am extremely proud of all of our rowers; we took home a lot of medals, which is a direct result of their hard work.
We have several new rowers, and it’s great to see them being so competitive so quickly. We have a very bright season ahead of us.”
SBCR was led by Jaci Dingman (Santa Ynez High sophomore). Dingman earned a gold medal in the U19 Women’s Single, a silver medal in the U17 Women’s Single and a bronze medal in the U17 Women’s Double with teammate Lizzie Jacobsen (San Marcos High sophomore).
Meanwhile, the U15 coxed quad team of Will Allen (Goleta Valley Junior High), Campbell Allen (Goleta Valley Junior High), John Asher (Laguna Blanca), Finn McCauley and Zen Budden (Laguna Blanca) captured first place in their race.
McCauley and Will Allen also came together to take the silver medal in the U16 Men’s Double.
The U16 quad group of Aidan Chase (Alpha School), Liam Moore (Alpha School), Campbell Allen, Will Allen and McCauley rounded out the team’s medals with a bronze.
The SBCR Masters team also competed and picked up three silver and two bronze medals.
