Dos Pueblos 62, Arroyo Grande 51
The Chargers got out to a fast start and never looked back in a win over Arroyo Grande on Friday.
Dos Pueblos dominated the first quarter and led 24-12 heading into the second. From there, the Chargers never surrendered the lead and pulled out the win.
“We really took advantage of our ability to get inside touches,” Dos Pueblos head coach Joe Zamora said. “I felt our defense did a good job of taking away their looks, and we were able to get reflections and turnovers.
“Arroyo Grande is well coached and they made some adjustments and were able to climb back into the game. It was pretty even through the rest of the game and we really buckled down on defense in the fourth quarter.”
Wyatt Gardiner put up a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Evan Pinsker ended with 11 points and five assists.
Santa Ynez 67, Channel Islands 39
The Pirates kicked off their tournament with a strong win over the Raiders on Friday.
Jude Pritchard and Mason Skidmore were heavily involved for Santa Ynez as they each tallied 21 points and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Gael Villalobos (12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists) and Lucas Ollenburger (11 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists) recorded strong all-around performances.
