The Dos Pueblos boys wrestling team pulled out a 42-41 Channel League dual meet victory over Buena on Thursday night in Ventura.

While the Charger boys squad escaped with the win, the girls team fell by a score of 54-11.

“It was an exciting dual meet, from start to finish,” Dos Pueblos head coach Matt Bernard said. “Our guys put it all out there and the result followed, and that’s what it’s all about.

“The coaching staff and I are proud of how our girls and boys teams wrestled. They continue to grind and put it all out on the mat, each and every match. It’s exciting to see them grow and improve every week.”

The Charger boys team was consistent throughout the night, receiving wins by way of falls from Thiago Hidalgo (126 lbs.), Sidarth Ramachandran (144 lbs.), Seamus Fergus (157 lbs.), David Estrada (165 lbs.), Brandon Velasquez (175 lbs.) and Ethan Ono (215 lbs.).

Dos Pueblos’ Arjun Ramachandran secured a victory thanks to a forfeit to round out the Dos Pueblos points.

As for the girls, Ariana Valladares won by technical fall at 100 pounds and Lesly De La Rosa recorded a fall victory of her own at 140 pounds to account for all of the team’s scoring.

The Chargers will host Rio Mesa next Wednesday for their Dos Pueblos Alumni Night.
