The trio of local high school girls water polo teams competed in the second day of the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions on Friday.

While none of the local teams will be competing for the championship on Saturday, all three have put together strong showings so far.

San Marcos

The Royals began their day in the winner’s bracket of the tournament, and dominated both ends of the pool in a 15-4 rout of San Clemente. With the win, they advanced to the quarterfinals against Oaks Christian.

In that game, San Marcos battled but fell by a score of 12-6 to fall into the consolation semifinals.

The Royals will take on JSerra on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. at Santa Barbara High. The winner of that game will compete for fifth place.

Dos Pueblos

The Chargers split their two tournament games on Friday, falling to top-seeded Mater Dei by a score of 14-4 before taking down Foothill, 8-0.

In the loss to Mater Dei, Lucy Watson netted a pair of goals for Dos Pueblos while Kyra Jones and Keira McAvoy each scored once. Reagan Mack collected 12 saves and three steals in the cage.

Later in the day, the Charger defense flexed its muscles in a shutout of Foothill as Mack recorded 12 more saves and a pair of steals. Dev Wigo also had a strong defensive performance with three steals.

Offensively, Talia Marshall poured in an impressive six goals and dished out assists on the other two goals, which were scored by Malaya Coleman and McAvoy.

Dos Pueblos will host Beckman on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Santa Barbara High

The Dons also went 1-1 on the second day of the Tournament of Champions, defeating Mira Costa 12-10 and dropping their matchup with Rancho Cucamonga, 14-7.

Santa Barbara High dominated the early stages of the game, building up a 12-5 lead heading into the fourth. Mira Costa scored five straight goals in the first three minutes of the fourth but the Dons held on for the win thanks in part to steals from Violette Bailey and Luna Morancey.

Rose Nelley found success on both ends with five goals and five steals, while Morancey netted four goals. Baley, Kana Wolfe and Yesenia Dunn each scored once to round out the scoring.

Later in the day, Bailey and Morancey scored three and two goals, respectively, in the loss to Rancho Cucamonga. Meanwhile, Jules Horton ended with one goal, three assists and three exclusions earned.

Santa Barbara High will take on Laguna Beach and Temple City on Saturday.
