Ventura 15, Santa Barbara High 14 (OT)

The Dons dropped an overtime thriller with the Cougars on Tuesday in Ventura.

After trailing by as many as three goals in the third quarter, Santa Barbara came roaring back and tied the game up with four minutes left in regulation.

Regulation ended with the two sides tied at 14-14, and the Cougars scored the lone goal of overtime while holding the Dons scoreless to earn the win.

“Our defense really struggled all game and they made us pay for it,” Santa Barbara High head coach Mark Walsh said. “We also missed a lot of counter attack opportunities that could have put us comfortably ahead.”

Jules Horton dominated in the field and in the cage for the Dons with six goals and six saves, while both Yesenia Dunn and Kana Wolfe scored three goals.

Santa Barbara High will take on Westridge and La Serna in a doubleheader on Friday in Temple City.
