Cate boys soccer rolled to a lopsided 8-0 victory over Foothill Tech on Tuesday in Carpinteria.
The Rams got two goals in the first seven minutes, as scores from Kamil Abdul-Nafeo and George Marin gave it an early 2-0 advantage.
Marin continued the first-half offensive barrage with three more goals by himself to help build up a 5-0 lead by halftime.
He stayed hot with his fifth and final goal of the game to begin the second half, while Teke Meisel and Jordan Ryan found the back of the net as well to round out the 8-0 win.
“Cate preserved the clean sheet despite being shorthanded and received strong contributions from multiple substitutes,” Cate head coach Jorhe Reynoso said. “We came out with great tempo and aggression and were able to create many chances, we converted often and early.
“As we head down the final stretch of the regular season, we need to focus on staying healthy and rested so we can be ready for the postseason.”
The Rams will be on the road against Coast Union next Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Laguna Blanca 5, St. Bonaventure 1
The Owls’ offense found plenty of success in a victory over the Seraphs on Tuesday.
St. Bonaventure opened the scoring early in the first half, but Laguna Blanca quickly responded as Baylor Wilson scored on a penalty kick to make it 1-1 heading into halftime.
The momentum completely shifted to the Owls in the second half as Inak Phillips scored off an assist from Isaac Duron in the 49th minute and Duron curled in a corner kick goal in the 55th minute to take a 3-1 lead.
Laguna Blanca remained aggressive down the stretch, getting goals from Josh Gomez and Phillips to put the finishing touches on the 5-1 win.
“The team came together in the second half and executed what we worked on for the victory,” Laguna Blanca head coach Rick Rodriguez said.
Dos Pueblos 1, Ventura 1
The Chargers ended in a 1-1 draw with the Cougars on Tuesday at Scott O’Leary Stadium in Goleta.
Dos Pueblos broke the scoreless tie in the eighth minute of play when Brandon Stock executed a long throw-in to Keenan Bower, who found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Ventura quickly answered with a goal in the 14th minute for the equalizer, and neither team found the back of the net for the rest of the game en route to the draw.
“We created opportunities throughout the game but weren’t able to put them away,” Dos Pueblos coach Oscar Garcia said. “Owen Ribbens gave us strong play throughout the game, playing through injuries. He was very valuable to us tonight. Brandon Stock was very consistent on the defensive end as well.”
The Chargers are now 6-8-5 overall and 2-6-2 in the Channel League season.
Pacifica 4, San Marcos 1
The Royals fell behind early and failed to recover in a league loss to the Tritons on Tuesday in Oxnard.
Pacifica erupted for three early goals in the opening half and held onto the commanding 3-0 lead through halftime.
San Marcos got on the board in the second half with a penalty goal by Luis Campos, but the Tritons scored once more later in the game to put the finishing touches on the win.
“Pacifica was sharp from the start and took advantage of their chances,” San Marcos head coach Paul McLean said. “Yael Solano worked so hard for our team throughout this match. His work rate is unmatched, and he created the play that led to our goal.
“Ethan Turenchalk and Daniel Bibiano brought good energy to the game.”
The Royals, now 6-3-1 in league play, will host Rio Mesa on Thursday at 6:45 p.m.
