Dos Pueblos girls water polo split their first two games of the SoCal Championships Tournament on Friday in Los Angeles.
The Chargers began their weekend with a 13-1 rout of Murrieta Valley before falling to Beckman by a score of 11-9.
Dos Pueblos dominated Murrieta Valley from start to finish, pitching a shutout for the entirety of the first half to build up a commanding 11-1 lead.
Reagan Mack led the defensive effort in the cage with 12 saves to go along with four assists. Kyra Jones also swiped three steals on the defensive end.
On the offensive end, Dev Wigo and Talia Marshall led the team with three goals apiece, while Lucy Watson scored twice and dished out four assists of her own. Wynonna Shea, Devon Fitzgibbons and Charlotte Neushul all scored once.
Dos Pueblos fell behind 3-1 in the opening quarter and couldn’t claw its way back in the loss to Beckman.
Mack kept the Chargers in the game with 14 saves, two steals and two assists, while Jones’ four goals led the team. Watson and Marshall scored three combined goals in the fourth quarter, but the comeback effort fell short.
Dos Pueblos will take on Alta Loma on Saturday at 8 a.m. at Corona Del Mar High School.
Santa Barbara High
The Dons went 1-1 on the first day of the Los Altos Tournament on Friday, taking down Westridge, 17-11, and dropping a matchup with La Serna, 15-12.
Jules Horton was a force in the win over Westridge, scoring six goals and earning four exclusions. Violette Bailey (5 goals, 3 steals) and Luna Morancey (4 goals, 3 steals) got it done on both ends, while Rose Nelley dished out five assists.
In the loss to La Serna, Santa Barbara High fell behind 8-1 early in the second period and couldn’t complete the second-half comeback effort.
Horton continued her big day with four goals and five earned exclusions in the loss. Meanwhile, Bailey, Morancey, Nelley and Yesenia Dunn all scored twice.
The Dons will take on Temple City and Rosary on Saturday.
