San Marcos water polo’s Bethany King and Carpinteria High soccer’s Carlos Garcia put up big performances en route to Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Week honors.
The pairing was honored at Monday’s SBART Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.
King shined in the cage for the Royals this weekend, accumulating 32 blocks across five games in the Newport Elite 8 Tournament.
Playing out of position, King made several clutch defensive stops for San Marcos to help her team place third against some of the top teams in the nation.
Meanwhile, Garcia began his week by scoring a pair of goals to lead his Warriors to a 4-2 victory over Malibu.
Garcia and Carpinteria continued their Citrus Coast League success later in the week when Garcia netted another goal and his team took down Nordhoff by a score of 4-1.
The boys honorable mentions were Koji Hefner (SM Basketball), Levi Oakes (SB Basketball), Damien Krautmann (Bishop Basketball), George Marin (Cate Soccer) and Inak Phillips (Laguna Soccer).
The girls honorable mentions were Jules Horton (SB Water Polo), Jade Pattison (SM Water Polo), Kate Selby (SM Soccer), Caroline Cooney (Carp Soccer) and Charlotte Cooney (Carp Basketball).
