The Santa Barbara Foresters inducted a pair of standout players and the organization’s longtime doctor into its Hall of Fame on Sunday at Cabrillo Pavilion.

Former Foresters and current MLB players Matt McLain and Jace Jung were inducted alongside Dr. Chris Proctor, joining a Hall of Fame that features coaches, players and volunteers from the decades of Forester baseball.

The duo of McLain and Jung each played for the Foresters during the summer of 2020, when the team captured one of its 10 NBC World Series titles.

McLain, who went to UCLA, hit .436 for the Foresters that summer and was the No. 17 overall pick in the 2021 draft by the Cincinnati Reds.

He made his way up the ranks and is now a middle infielder at the MLB level for the Reds. In 2025, he played in 147 games and ended with 15 homers, 50 RBI and 73 runs scored.

Jung, a Texas Tech product, was voted the Foresters 2020 MVP after hitting .404 and launching 10 homers, which is among the most ever for a Forester hitter in one summer.

The third baseman was the No. 12 overall pick by the Detroit Tigers in 2022 and made his MLB debut in 2024. He has played in 55 games across the last two seasons in Detroit.

Proctor, one of the nation’s leading orthopedic surgeons, has been the team doctor for the Foresters for over 25 years.

He has spent years consulting with team trainers and coaches in an effort to ensure every Forester player gets the training and rehab they need.

The Santa Barbara Foresters will open their 2026 season this June.
