Multiple mountain lion sightings were reported in the Mission Creek and Oak Park areas in Santa Barbara during the past few days, according to Santa Barbara Animal Control and social media posts.

At least two videos posted to social media showed the animal walking around the Samarkand neighborhood.

One, which was shared with Noozhawk, was captured last Friday around 7 a.m. It shows the animal walking near two parked cars.

The other, taken over the weekend, was captured around 2 a.m.

Animal Control said the California Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified.

“Residents in the area are advised to keep pets indoors and avoid hiking alone at dawn or dusk,” a city spokesperson said on Monday.

Do not approach any mountain lions if spotted, according to the spokesperson. Contact Santa Barbara Animal Control at 805.882.8900 or animalcontrol@sbpd.com if the animal is spotted; if it is an emergency, call 9-1-1.
