A pedestrian suffered significant injuries Friday evening in a collision with a vehicle on West Anapamu Street in Santa Barbara, according to police.

Santa Barbara police officers and emergency medical services were called about 5:20 p.m. to 100 W. Anapamu St. to a report of a traffic collision involving one vehicle and a pedestrian entering a parked vehicle.

The pedestrian entering the parked vehicle sustained significant injuries in the collision and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment, according to police.

Officers shut down the road to traffic during the incident, and police said it would remain closed during the investigation.

The road was reopened at about 9:30 p.m.
