The Santa Barbara area will be well-represented in the CIF-SS soccer playoff picture this season, as five boys squads and four girls teams earned spots in the postseason.
Here are their playoff division pairings and first-round matchups for next week. All matches will be played at either 3 p.m. or 5 p.m.
Boys Soccer
Carpinteria High
Carpinteria was the highest-ranked local team this season, earning a spot in the Division 4 bracket after going 10-5-2 overall and placing third in the Citrus Coast League.
The Warriors will clash with a familiar foe in the first round, as they will head down to take on league rival Santa Paula on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
The Cardinals went 12-5-1 in the regular season and placed second in the league. In the regular season, Carpinteria swept the season series, including a 2-0 win in the regular-season finale.
San Marcos
The Royals will be the lone local Channel League boys soccer team in the playoffs this season. They put together an overall record of 10-6-2 to finish third in the league standings and clinch a spot in the Div. 5 playoffs.
San Marcos will hit the road to take on Silverado High in the first round on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Silverado placed second in the Desert Sky League with a record of 9-10-4.
Cate
The Rams rolled through the regular season, going 11-1 en route to a Tri-Valley League championship and a spot in the CIF-SS Div. 6 postseason bracket.
Cate’s playoff run will begin on the road against Colton High, who went 8-9-2 en route to a second-place showing in the Skyline League, on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Laguna Blanca
The Owls capped off a historic season last week, clinching their first Frontier League title in 11 seasons. They finished with a record of 12-2 and will now turn their attention to the CIF-SS Div. 7 playoffs.
Laguna Blanca will join its fellow local teams on the road for round one as it heads down to take on Covina (12-3-6, 2nd in Valle Vista League) on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Bishop Diego
The Cardinals snapped their playoff drought with a second-place finish in the Tri-Valley League this season. As a result, they were awarded the No. 4 seed in the CIF-SS Div. 8 bracket.
Bishop Diego will be the lone local boys team to host its opening round matchup, as it will welcome Grove (7-5, 2nd in Majestic League) into town on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Girls Soccer
Dos Pueblos
The Chargers enjoyed a stellar regular season, taking third place in the Channel League and accumulating a record of 13-4-5. They were slotted into the CIF-SS Div. 3 playoffs as the highest-ranked local team.
Dos Pueblos will roll out the welcome mats for La Mirada for the playoff opener on Thursday, Feb. 12. La Mirada is coming off a 5-9-4 regular season and third place in the Gateway League.
Carpinteria High
The Warriors dominated their regular season schedule this winter, cruising to a 14-1-2 overall record and a Citrus Coast League title. They were rewarded with a spot in the CIF-SS Div. 5 playoffs.
Carpinteria High will begin its quest for a CIF-SS title away from home as it takes on Burbank (13-7-1, 4th in Pacific League) in the opening round on Thursday, Feb. 12.
Cate
The Rams were named the No. 3 seed in the CIF-SS Div. 7 bracket after going 4-5-3 in the regular season and securing a third-place finish in the Tri-Valley League.
The high-seeded Cate will remain at home to begin the postseason and host Pioneer on Thursday, Feb. 12. Pioneer placed 3rd in the 605 League and registered an overall record of 7-10-2.
Bishop Diego
The Cardinals round out the local teams who are postseason-bound after a second-place showing in the Frontier League, which punched their ticket into the Div. 8 playoffs.
Bishop Diego will head down to Mountain View High (7-8-2, 3rd in Mission Valley) on Thursday, Feb. 12 for its first-round game.
