Wine 4 Paws, the annual, weekend-long wine country fundraiser for the dogs and cats at Woods Humane Society will be April 25-26.

More than 75 wine, olive oil, dining, and other businesses throughout San Luis Obispo County will donate 10 percent of their proceeds from the weekend to support dogs and cats in need.

The coordinated, countywide event has raised more than $750,000 for homeless pets at Woods Humane Society since it began in 2009.

Participating businesses raise funds by donating 10% of all sales, and offer special online wine sales, and ticketed events such as paint your pet parties, wine-paired dinners, vineyard dog walks, and wine-blending seminars.

Wine 4 Paws raises crucial funds to provide food, shelter, and medical care for homeless animals, just as the nonprofit begins to see newborns arriving at the outset of baby season, said Emily L’Heureux, Woods Humane Society CEO.

“Last spring, we saw a historic jump in the number of puppies in need of life-saving care, and we expect a similar trend this year,” she said.

“Wine 4 Paws participants will make an incredible impact, allowing us to respond to urgent cases and save the lives of more than 3,000 pets this year. And they can do it all by simply enjoying their favorite wineries,” L’Heureux said.

“Whether you’re close by or celebrating from afar, you can make a real difference for struggling puppies and kittens by shopping, sipping or supporting the amazing local Wine 4 Paws businesses on April 25 and 26.” said Sarah Tomasetti, Wine 4 Paws organizer.
