As we grow older, health care priorities often shift toward preserving independence, feeling truly listened to and having care that evolves alongside life’s changes.
At Cottage Healthy Aging Clinic, Dr. Jayson Wright provides geriatric-focused care for adults age 65 and older, designed to support overall health and quality of life as needs change over time.
Geriatric-focused care goes beyond managing individual conditions. It takes a comprehensive approach to health, addressing chronic disease, cognitive changes, mobility concerns and medication management while also considering emotional well-being, social support and daily function.
This specialized approach can be especially beneficial for older adults managing multiple health conditions, navigating changes in memory or balance, or taking several medications.
Through early intervention, proactive monitoring and thoughtful care planning, geriatric-focused care can help prevent complications, reduce hospitalizations and support aging well over time.
Geriatric-focused care does not replace an existing primary care provider. Instead, it can complement ongoing care by offering additional expertise and support for age-related health concerns, working collaboratively with a patient’s current physician when appropriate.
This patient-centered approach is central to the clinic’s care philosophy.
“Geriatric care is about understanding what matters most to each patient,” said Dr. Jayson Wright. “By listening and looking at the full picture, medical and personal, we can focus care on supporting quality of life and what patients value most.”
The clinic is led by Dr. Jayson Wright, a board-certified physician in internal medicine and geriatrics.
He provides care informed by advanced training and a holistic philosophy that emphasizes prevention, thoughtful planning and individualized care.
His clinical interests include preventive health, dementia evaluation and management, comprehensive geriatric assessments and weight management.

A Goleta native, Dr. Wright returned to his hometown to serve the community he calls home. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, completed his primary care residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and went on to complete a geriatrics fellowship at UCLA Medical Center, where he received advanced training in caring for older adults.
Patients may consider geriatric-focused primary care if they:
- Are age 65 or older and noticing changes in health or function
- Manage multiple chronic conditions
- Take several medications
- Have concerns about memory or cognitive changes
- Experience falls, balance concerns or mobility challenges
By offering proactive, personalized care grounded in geriatric expertise, the Cottage Healthy Aging Clinic helps older adults navigate the changing needs of aging with confidence and support.
The Cottage Healthy Aging Clinic is located at 444 S. Patterson Ave., Suite 200, and is open Mondays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The clinic is currently welcoming new patients.
