A man was stabbed on the Santa Barbara City College campus and transported to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
As of 9 p.m., police had not located the two suspects.
Two men approached the victim with a knife in an altercation at the Earth and Biological Sciences Building at about 4:45 p.m., according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
The stabbing was reported on East Campus. The two suspects reportedly left on foot toward West Campus.
Santa Barbara police officers searched the campus and nearby areas for the suspects, described as two men wearing black masks and black hoodies, but were unable to locate them.
“Please do not engage the individuals. If you have information regarding the incident or the suspects please call 9-1-1, do not approach them,” a SBCC alert said.
The victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his upper body, was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, according to police.
Details on his condition were not available.
“This incident appears to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time,” police said in a press release. “Based on the initial investigation, it does not appear that the incident was related to any Santa Barbara City College school-related function.”
SBCC decided to cancel classes and close the campus Wednesday evening “with an abundance of caution,” campus officials said. Campus Safety staff were available to escort people to their vehicles.
This investigation was continuing, and anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact the Police Department at 805.897.2371.
