Santa Barbara High girls beach volleyball dropped a competitive non-league matchup to Arroyo Grande by a score of 3-2 on Monday at East Beach.
“We had three matches go into the third set, so it was a close back-and-forth affair all around, one of those that could have gone either way,” Santa Barbara High head coach Kristin Hempy said.
The No. 1 Dons’ duo of Lola Heckman and Kira Elliot battled to a three-set victory, 18-21, 21-17, 15-13.
Meanwhile, Jacqueline Durling and Grace Costner took care of their opponents in straight sets to round out the Santa Barbara High scoring, 21-19, 21-17.
Santa Barbara High’s Talia Yoshimi/Stella Peus and Gabby Cajuste/Phoebe Peterson put up strong fights at courts three and five, respectively, but ultimately fell in three sets.
The Dons will be on the road against Rio Mesa for a Channel League matchup on Tuesday.
