Roger “Roy” Ybarra passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with various illnesses. He was a proud veteran, devoted family man, loyal friend, and a man whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Roy proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, an honor he carried with deep pride throughout his life.
His strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to others defined not only his time in the military, but the way he lived each and every day.
As a family, we were deeply proud of his service and the example he set for all of us.
Roy’s greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing meant more to him than his family. He treasured the time spent together: sharing meals, telling stories, laughing loudly, and simply being surrounded by the people he loved most.
Roy had a deep love for the open road and could often be found riding his Harley, embracing the freedom he valued so much.
He enjoyed deer hunting with friends and cherished the memories and camaraderie built along the way. He was also a devoted fan of classic Westerns and especially enjoyed films starring John Wayne.
Roy was known for being funny, stubborn, loving, giving and honest. He was the kind of man who would do anything for someone in need. He was dependable, straightforward and loyal, the type of person you were grateful to have in your life.
Throughout his life, Roy lived in and traveled to many different states, always seeking new experiences and never staying in one place for too long. Adventure was simply part of who he was.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but we find comfort in knowing he is finally at peace. His legacy of love, strength and generosity will live on in all who knew him.
Roy is survived by his children Joseph (Mayrem) Ybarra and Raquel Ybarra; grandchildren Corena Herrera, Sierra Ybarra, Victoria Navarro, and Illiana Ybarra; and great-grandchildren Mason Salcedo and Elio Cervantes.
He was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
