San Marcos girls beach volleyball rolled to a 5-0 rivalry sweep of Dos Pueblos on Friday in Goleta.

The Royals (13-1, 6-0 Channel League) have enjoyed a dominant Channel League season, and that continued on Friday as they did not drop a single set to the Chargers (5-6, 3-2 CL).

On court one, San Marcos’ Cora Loomer and Evyn Miller cruised to a win over Allie Ben-Yaacov and Char Welch, 21-8, 21-11.

“There was a bit of wind in the early afternoon and Loomer and Miller handled it with aplomb, using ball control and sharp attacks in the win,” San Marcos head coach Tim Loomer said.

Alina Stapf and Reese Paskin kept it going for the Royals on court two with a 21-16, 21-8 victory over Ruby Dunlop and Gia Haas.

“Paskin’s blocking was particularly effective and Stapf once again played some amazing defense,” Tim Loomer said.

In the No. 3 matchup, Jeannie Johnson and Kelsie Rowe handled Dos Pueblos’ Faith Harrison and Kyra Sample, 21-17, 21-17.

“Serving and hustle were keys to their victory,” Tim Loomer said of his threes.

Rio Chesluk and Jordan Schmoller of San Marcos made quick work of Athena Bardakos and Moana Martinez in the No. 4 showdown, 21-7, 21-4.

“Today Jordan really showed some good ball control with her passing and setting. Rio’s ability to read the opponent and anticipate their decisions consistently put her in good defensive positions,” Tim Loomer said.

The No. 5 duo of Kelsey Helton and Malia Hetick rounded out the perfect sweep with a 21-14, 21-12 win over Mia Taylor and Marley Wilcher.

“Their communication on the court was a particular strength during the match today,” Tim Loomer said.

The Royals will host rival Santa Barbara High on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The Chargers will be on the road against Ventura.

Santa Barbara High 5, Oxnard 0

The Dons continued their strong Channel League season with a sweep of the Yellow Jackets on Friday in Oxnard.

“Ball control was key today to get the job done,” Santa Barbara High head coach Kristin Hempy said.

Santa Barbara High No. 1 pairing Lola Heckman/Kira Elliott took care of business in two sets, 21-13, 21-14, as did the duo of Paylin Marcillac/Blake Saunders on court two, 21-17, 21-17.

Meanwhile, Stella Peus and Jacqueline Durling of the Dons battled to a three-set victory at the threes, 21-13, 20-22, 15-8.

Grace Costner/Talia Yoshimi won in straight sets at the No. 4 matchup, 21-18, 21-11, and Gabby Cajuste/Phoebe Peterson capped off the sweep with a 21-8, 21-15 victory.
