A County Air Support Unit helicopter transported a man to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Monday afternoon after he reportedly fell off the Carpinteria Bluffs.

Emergency personnel responded to the Carpinteria Bluffs off Bailard Avenue at around 12:15 p.m. for a report of a person who fell off the cliff.

Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District spokesperson Grace Rampton said the district used a drone to locate the man on the beach.

“The subject was assessed, and injuries were stabilized,” Rampton said in an email. “Due to the extent of the injuries and the terrain, Santa Barbara County air resources were used to hoist the subject out and transport him to Cottage Hospital.”

Montecito Fire Protection District, Santa Barbara City Fire Department, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Barbara County Fire Department and American Medical Response also assisted in the incident.
