Santa Barbara High boys volleyball dropped a non-league contest with Newbury Park in four sets on Monday, 25-22, 23-25, 18-25, 26-28.
The Dons found themselves down 24-21 in game four before they came roaring back and had several chances to force game five. However, Newbury Park defended its home court and got it done in four.
Hayes Costner spearheaded the Santa Barbara offensive attack with 19 kills, while Santiago Greenberg collected eight of his own. Maddox Denver ended the night with 38 assists.
The Dons (3-3) will return to Channel League action when they host Ventura on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
