Moderate injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash that blocked Highway 101 lanes near Los Alamos on Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Emergency personnel were dispatched at about 7 a.m. to the collision at Palmer Road involving a Volkswagen sedan and big-rig truck hauling double dump trailers, the CHP said.

Heavy fog in the area may have contributed to the crash, the CHP said.

The female driver of the Volkswagen was taken by AMR ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, according to Karen Cruz-Orduña, spokeswoman for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The woman’s name and details on her condition were not available.

The truck driver was not injured, Cruz-Orduña said.

The northbound highway lanes were shut down for a time after the collision, but were reopened as of 8:15 a.m.

The crash was under investigation by the CHP.
