The driver of a truck equipped with wide tires lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a building causing major structural damage in Santa Maria.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, emergency crews responded to the incident on the 400 block of South Broadway, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.

After the 20-year-old driver lost control, the truck struck an unoccupied parked vehicle before careening into the building, police said.

“Fortunately, the building was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported,” police said Sunday morning.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the incident.

“Authorities note that driver inexperience and vehicle modifications likely contributed to the incident,” police added, reminding drivers to consider their limitations and vehicle size to prevent crashes.

Police dd not release the name of the driver.

The building houses a few businesses, including a barbershop.
