Santa Barbara High boys golf continued its strong start to Channel League action with a victory over Ventura High on Tuesday at Santa Barbara Golf Club.
The Dons (5-1, 3-0 Channel League) ended the day with a team score of 377 to beat out the Cougars’ mark of 395 on the par-70 course.
“I’m proud of the boys persevering through the hot temperatures and scoring the team’s lowest score on the season,” Santa Barbara High head coach Ryan Throop said. “Their hard work and preparation this season were rewarded today.”
Alex Ortega and Logan Gankas led the Dons and shared the medalist honors with Ventura’s Haeden Weber, as all three golfers shot a one-over-par 71.
The Santa Barbara High duo was joined by teammates Tyler Satterberg (72), Jack Alzina (80), Dimitri Tar (83) and Peyton Webley (84).
The Dons will take on Santa Ynez High for a non-league match on Thursday at Alisal River Course.

The Royals also remained undefeated in league play with a victory over the Bulldogs on Tuesday at Santa Barbara Golf Club.
San Marcos’ Andy Keenan led all golfers with an impressive four-under-par 66 to earn medalist honors. Axl Wedhammar joined him as the other Royal under par, shooting a two-under 68.
They were followed by Nate Duva (70), Ethan Klawuhn (72) and Austin Downing (74).
“We shot even par as a team today, which is a really difficult thing to do and a great accomplishment for these guys,” San Marcos head coach Jeff Ashton said. “We don’t get to play all that many matches at Muni, but the guys know it well and were excited to put a good performance together.”
“I’m super proud of all of the guys for their effort to start this season.”
The Royals, now 2-0 in Channel League action, will take on Valencia for a non-league match on Wednesday.
