Dos Pueblos boys tennis cruised to a 16-2 rout of Bishop Diego in a crosstown non-league match on Monday in Goleta.
“To be the best you have to play the best, and that’s what we’ve been doing,” Bishop Diego head coach Peter Kirkwood said. “Despite the score, I think it was a win-win match.
“We were able to see what the high level looks like once again and they were able to give a lot of their guys opportunities to play.”
Dos Pueblos swept the doubles matchups 9-0 and captured seven of the nine singles points on the day.
The Chargers got a dramatic doubles victory from the pairing of Ethan Pfeiffer and William Maninins to maintain the doubles sweep.
Carter Bradley and Joe Similon secured the two Bishop Diego points in the loss, as they each won a singles matchup.
The Cardinals will return to Tri-Valley League action on Tuesday against Thacher in Ojai. Dos Pueblos is now 6-0 overall on the season.
