Providence 3, Dunn 0
The Patriots earned a sweep of Dunn on Thursday at Valinor Gym in Santa Barbara, 25-14, 25-10, 25-10.
“Overall, we served better tonight, but most importantly we passed well. I don’t think we gave up a single ace the whole night and passed a 2.4,” Providence head coach Dan Terry said. “We’ve got a couple tweaks we can work on, but tonight was a solid performance and if we can correct those couple things, we’ll be competitive tomorrow night against Cate.”
Moses Schlobohm hammered down eight kills to lead the Patriots, while Isaac Hoffman collected five kills in just one set.
Providence will head out to Carpinteria to take on Cate on Friday at 5 p.m.
Carpinteria High 3, Hueneme 1
The Warriors went on the road and came away with a four-set win over the Vikings, 25-17, 18-25, 27-25, 25-20.
“I had a blast coaching this team tonight,” Carpinteria High coach Richard Quitoriano said. “The setters did a great job controlling the offense, and it really showed in the stats. This was a solid win to carry us into spring break.”
Alan Maya was all over the court for the Warriors, collecting 45 digs, 19 assists, 15 kills and four aces. Meanwhile, Rafael Cintura and Cole Rowbottom each tallied eight kills.
Defensively, Cintura and Kevin Bernal turned in strong performances with 25 and 21 digs, respectively.
