The Summer Solstice Celebration is hiring for its 2026 season, including a new opportunity for a Pass the Hat coordinator/artist-in-residence to reimagine one of Solstice’s most beloved traditions.

The paid creative leadership role will design and direct a high-energy Donation Solicitation Performance Troupe (DSPT), transforming fundraising into interactive street theater, Solstice organizers said.

“Blending improv, comedy, and audience engagement, the troupe will inspire generosity while entertaining thousands during Solstice events,” they said.

“This is not your typical fundraising role,” said Justin Gunn, board president. “It’s performance, direction, and community connection rolled into one, where the art of the ask becomes part of the one big show.”

Additional seasonal positions include:
• Registrar/volunteer coordinator
• Assistant registrar
• Volunteer coordinator
• Workshop assistant

Solstice is also accepting proposals for artist-in-residence stipends for those interested in creating parade floats or ensembles. These are honorariums based upon the project scope and applicant experience.

The Summer Solstice Celebration is Santa Barbara County’s largest arts event, drawing more than 100,000 attendees, and engaging hundreds of artists and community participants each year.
