An injured hiker was rescued Wednesday afternoon from the Santa Ynez Mountains above Lake Cachuma, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Firefighters from the county and U.S. Forest Service and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after noon for a report of an 81-year-old man with a lower-body injury about 2 miles up the Tequepis Trail, fire Capt. Mark Gray told Noozhawk.
County Copter 308 was dispatched to the scene and lowered a firefighter/paramedic to the ground to assess and provide first aid to the injured man.
The patient was then hoisted into the helicopter and transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, Gray said.
The man’s name and details on his condition were not available.
