Santa Barbara High girls beach volleyball dropped a make-up match with Ventura by a score of 5-0 on Wednesday at East Beach.

The Dons’ No. 4 pairing of Phoebe Peterson/Tali Yoshimi was the lone team to take its opponents to three sets in a 21-13, 12-21, 10-15 loss.

“[Peterson and Yoshimi] really battled and had good energy, strong serving and shots,” Santa Barbara High head coach Kristin Hempy said.

Meanwhile, the No. 1 duo of Lola Heckman/Kira Elliot and Stella Peus/Grace Costner at the threes turned in solid showings.

“Lola had some nice plays up at the net and this was a well fought battle that Ventura was able to pull away with this time,” Hempy said. “[Peus/Costner] had some great serves and shots, and were just a few points away from the win.”

The Dons will be on the road against Royal High for a non-league matchup on Thursday.
