Authorities are investigating after a person was found dead Monday morning on a Santa Barbara Highway 101 off-ramp.
The body was an approximately 44-year-old male found at the Milpas Street off-ramp of northbound Highway 101, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers first responded at around 10:09 a.m. after they received a call about a person lying down in that area, CHP Sgt. Keith Rogers said.
Upon arrival, officers found a person who “displayed obvious signs of death,” Rogers said.
The Santa Barbara City Fire Department pronounced the person deceased at around 10:20 a.m.
It isn’t known how long the body was there or whether the death is suspicious, Rogers said, adding that officers are waiting on the results from the Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Bureau.
The identify of the deceased person was not released. Additional information was not available.
