Santa Barbara High boys tennis earned an 11-7 crosstown rivalry victory over San Marcos on Thursday in Santa Barbara.

“The whole team felt strong and competed really well. Overall, it was just a really good team effort and there was great energy all around,” Santa Barbara High head coach Felipe Saffie said.

The Dons’ pairings of Ishan Pandya/Elio Taha and Lucas Forry/Connor Funk led the way as they each went a perfect 3-0 on the day.

The Royals earned four points in singles as they swept line three and Braden Stewart picked up a pair of victories.

Meanwhile, San Marcos scrambled its doubles team and came away with a trio of wins on line three.

“Trying out new doubles partners is challenging but we are happy we took this opportunity to do so,” San Marcos head coach Emily Carver said.

The Dons are set to head to Goleta to take on Dos Pueblos next Tuesday, while the Royals will head down to San Dieguito Academy for a matchup on Friday at 2 p.m.

Carpinteria High 12, Hueneme 6

The Warriors continued their strong Citrus Coast League season with a win over Hueneme on Thursday.

“This was an important CCL match and similar to the last time we played them, it was quite spirited, as both teams knew it was going to be a close match,” Carpinteria High head coach Charles Bryant said.

“The overall score did not do the match justice as this was much closer than that final score indicated. Each set seemed to have its own storyline and important outcome.”

The Warriors dominated doubles play, pulling eight of the nine available points. Servando Campuzano/Ethan Almgren and John MOrrison/Tiago El-Aaidi each went 3-0, while Hayden Nordholm/Alex Hansen went 2-1 on the day.

In singles, Edwin Hernandez and Kamran Dadvar tallied two wins apiece for Carpinteria High.

The Warriors (8-5, 5-1 CCL) will host Simi Valley for a non-league match on Monday.
