Bishop Diego’s boys volleyball team will be home for the CIF-SS Division 5 championship match on Friday, Cardinals coach Dillan Bennett told Noozhawk.
The Cardinals (27-8) will face Long Beach-St. Anthony (18-7) at 6 p.m. at the Brick House. It will be Bishop’s debut in a CIF championship for boys volleyball.
It’s been a wild ride for Bennett’s team in the postseason. It needed a reverse sweep to beat Brea Olinda in the quarterfinals on the road and rallied from a set down to defeat El Dorado in four sets in the semifinals at home.
St. Anthony also is battle tested. The Saints survived five-set thrillers in their last two matches, beating Western Christian in the quarterfinals and Bellflower in a reverse sweep in the semis.
