Emergency crews rescued a paraglider who crashed in a remote area near Happy Canyon Trail in the Santa Ynez Valley on Wednesday night, a Santa Barbara County Fire Department spokesperson said.

Personnel first converged on that area at around 6:21 p.m.

The paraglider had an injured ankle and declined medical treatment, according to County Fire spokeswoman Karen Cruz-Orduña.

A helicopter, 964, was “released from the Foothill Fire and conducted a flyby to assist crews in locating the patient,” Cruz-Orduña said.

Additional details were not immediately available.
