Scouting America – Los Padres Council will recognize two longtime Central Coast leaders — Bill Macfadyen and the Borgatello Family — at its annual Salute to Scouting celebration, Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Santa Barbara Club.

Macfadyen, founder and publisher of Noozhawk.com, will receive the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA), one of Scouting’s highest honors recognizing Eagle Scouts who have distinguished themselves through professional achievement and community service.

The Borgatello Family, founders of MarBorg Industries, will receive the Los Padres Council Legacy Award in recognition of their longstanding commitment to community leadership, philanthropy, and service throughout the Central Coast.

The annual event brings together business executives, civic leaders, educators, and community supporters to celebrate leadership and invest in youth development programs across the region.

“Both of this year’s honorees embody the values of leadership, integrity and service that Scouting strives to instill in young people,” said Carlos Cortez, Scout executive and CEO of Scouting America – Los Padres Council. “Their impact on our community is substantial and enduring.”

Funds raised through the event support Scouting programs serving more than 3,000 youth annually throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, including traditional Scouting programs, Exploring career education initiatives, and The Outdoor School at Camp Rancho Alegre.

Event sponsorships help provide scholarships and expanded access to leadership development and outdoor education opportunities for youth, including those from underserved communities.

Past Salute to Scouting honorees include Central Coast business and civic leaders Randy Fox, Steve Golis, Terry Bartlett, Richard Berti, Doug Scott, Karl Willig, and Andy Winchester.
