The American Radio Relay League (ARRL/RAC) Field Day is an annual ham radio event involving 30,000 or so amateur radio operators all across the U.S. and Canada.

The 2026 event runs from 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27 until 11 a.m. Sunday, June 28.

The object of the 24-hour exercise is to set up temporary communication hubs and make contact with as many participants as possible, according to the ARRL/RAC.

The Wasteland Communication Corporation is a ham radio club that’s been promoting knowledge and technical skills in wireless communication to young people since 2012.

“Blending the applicable real-world disaster preparedness aspects of ham radio with the excitement and whimsy of popular fiction franchises like Fallout and Mad Max helps demystify the tech, and offers an inclusive introduction to the hobby,” organizers said.

The Wasteland Communication Corporation, K6WCC, will be set up on East Camino Cielo, about three miles east of the intersection with Gibraltar Road.

“Come by to learn about ham radio, especially if you’re a Fallout fan,” organizers said.
