It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father Rafael Hernández on May 28, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born on July 16, 1938, in Tototlán Jalisco, Rafael came to the United States at a young age in search of a better life for himself and his family.

Through hard work, determination and sacrifice, he built a life centered on family, integrity and perseverance.

Rafael dedicated most of his working life to the restaurant industry, where he was known for his skill, work ethic, and passion as a head cook. He spent many years working at numerous restaurants in Santa Barbara, concluding his career at The Miramar Hotel, where he worked for 18 years before retiring.

Above all, Rafael was a devoted loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His greatest pride and joy was his family.
