Authorities have identified 38-year-old Aaron Hernandez of Santa Maria as the man who died early June 8 in a single-vehicle crash.
Police officers, firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly before 1 a.m. to the incident on the 800 block of Black Road, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.
Police said the vehicle was southbound on Black Road when it veered into the northbound lane, left the roadway, entered a water ditch, and struck a power pole.
Hernandez, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police Lt. Todd Logan.
A GoFundMe site, A Respectful Farewell for Aaron Hernandez Morales, has been created to the help the family of the man they said died in the Black Road cash.
“He was a beloved son, father, and colleague who has touched the lives of many. He leaves behind his mother, three children a daughter age 16, two sons 12 and 8 years old.”
The site had raised $912 toward the $4,500 goal for funeral costs as of Wednesday.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
