The Santa Barbara Foresters dropped a tightly contested matchup with the MLB Academy Barons by a score of 3-2 on Thursday at MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton.

The Foresters are now 19-4 heading into the California Collegiate League Showcase on Saturday.

Santa Barbara opened the game with a bang, plating two runs in the top of the first as Addison Klepsch (UC San Diego) scored on a wild pitch and Joshua Woodworth (Pepperdine) belted a solo homer.

However, those proved to be the only runs the Foresters would score all night, as they managed just three hits across the next eight innings of play.

Meanwhile, the Barons scored one run in the third and took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the sixth to go up 3-2.

The Foresters will look to bounce back on Sunday as they host the Coastal Dodgers at 2 p.m. at Eddie Mathews Field.
