Dignity Health Mission Hope Cancer Center is bringing back Day of Hope Car Shows, kicking off the 13th annual Day of Hope cancer fundraiser.

The Day of Hope Car Shows will be held concurrently on Saturday, Aug. 22 at Mission Hope Cancer Center, 1325 E. Church St., Santa Maria, and Heritage Square Park, 201 Nelson St., Arroyo Grande.

Event times are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in Santa Maria and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Arroyo Grande. The car shows are free to attend; car registration is $75 at Arroyo Grande and starts at $35 in Santa Maria.

Inspired by the Day of Hope car parade, the car shows offer a family-friendly celebration that brings communities together to champion those battling cancer.

“We are incredibly proud to host the Day of Hope Car Shows for a second year, continuing to build on the overwhelming enthusiasm we saw last year,” said Sue Andersen, president/CEO of Marian Regional Medical Center and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital.

“These events are more than just a magnificent display of vehicles; they are a powerful symbol of our community’s commitment to patients at our Mission Hope Cancer Centers,” she said.

“Our commitment to providing exceptional care, alongside a robust network of community support, is at the heart of our mission,” Andersen said. “These car shows are a fun way for everyone to contribute to that vital work.”

The events will feature classic, custom, and unique vehicles. Attendees can also enjoy food and activities.

Cancer touches countless lives, with statistics showing that 4 in 10 Americans will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, Dignity Health reports.

These car shows serve as a powerful testament to community solidarity, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Mission Hope Cancer Centers’ Day of Hope event, organizers said.

The Santa Maria car show will again include a popular Touch-a-Truck area, allowing children to explore various vehicles like Santa Maria police cruisers, an ambulance, tractors and ATVs.

Healthcare providers from Mission Hope Cancer Center will be onsite at both locations to talk with attendees and answer questions about cancer care. There will also be live music, a DJ and awards to the top vehicles.

The Arroyo Grande event will feature a ‘Paws for Hope’ dog parade.

All event proceeds remain local, directly supporting Dignity Health Mission Hope Cancer Center’s life-saving programs and comprehensive cancer care services across the Central Coast.
