The Santa Barbara High and Carpinteria High boys water polo teams rounded out the Thousand Oaks Fall Classic at Newbury Park High on Saturday.
Santa Barbara High
The Dons began the day with a 17-4 loss to Malibu before taking down Oak Park by a score of 10-5.
In the loss to Malibu, Jack Fulbeck and Mason Walsh scored two goals apiece, while Will Linowski had three steals.
Charlie Gray had a big day in the cage against Oak Park, totaling 10 saves and adding a goal. Meanwhile, Paolo Borgioli had three goals and two assists, and both Fulbeck and Walsh tallied two goals, two assists and two exclusions.
Atticus Diaz rounded out the scoring against Oak Park with a pair of goals of his own.
“I was really proud of our team’s effort today,” Santa Barbara High head coach Mason Walsh said. “In our Malibu game, we were missing several starters due to SAT’s and lifeguard training. In our Oak Park game, we were missing two more players due to injury and illness from the Malibu game.”
The Dons will host Foothill Tech for a non-league matchup on Tuesday.
Carpinteria High
The Warriors went 1-3 on the weekend at the T.O. Fall Classic at Newbury Park High.
Carpinteria began the tournament with a back-and-forth battle with Santa Barbara High. Chris Reed gave the Warriors a one-goal lead late in the second quarter, but the Dons answered back and held on down the stretch for the 7-6 win.
Ryder Shaw scored three goals for Carpinteria in the tight loss, while Cade McCallister and Junius Fedders collected three steals apiece.
In the next matchup, the Warriors fell to a strong Malibu team by a score of 13-4 despite Stefano Picoletti tallying 10 saves and three steals. Ryder Shaw and Oscar De Leon each scored twice in the loss.
Carpinteria then picked up its lone win of the weekend with a 14-12 victory over Newbury Park, jumping out to a 2-0 lead early and maintaining the advantage throughout.
The Warriors wrapped up the tournament with a loss at the hands of Cleveland High, with Luke Donahue and McCallister each finding the back of the net.
Carpinteria High will compete in the Malibu Tournament next weekend.
