A vehicle fire spread to nearby vegetation Tuesday afternoon east of Highway 101 in Orcutt.

At approximately 3:10 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and Santa Maria Fire Department responded as flames from a Ford vehicle spread into the vegetation south of Clark Avenue.

The fire burned between 1-2 acres in the area, with a potential for reaching between 3 and 5 acres. The blaze threatened some structures in the area for a time.

While air tankers were released from the firefighting response, a county Air Support Unit helicopter assisted from above the incident focusing on burning eucalyptus trees.

Traffic along Highway 101 was affected due to the firefighting equipment and personnel operating in the area.

The area where the fire was burning includes vineyards, hoop houses, structures and some vegetation along with roads.

Additional details were not immediately available.
