Proactive planning is essential to ensuring our community remains safe, welcoming, and prepared, the Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara advises.

As the Jewish High Holidays approach, the Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara and the Community Security Initiative (CSI) invite community members to participate in a High Holiday Security Preparedness Training, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Adam Bronfman JCC, 524 Chapala St., Santa Barbara.

Topics will include situational awareness; recognizing and reporting suspicious activity; emergency preparedness; and simple steps to take to help foster a safe and welcoming environment, organizers said.

“This training is open to everyone in our Jewish community. Whether you are a clergy member, lay leader, volunteer, staff member, or congregant, we encourage you to join us,” organizers said.

“Together, we can help ensure our community remains safe, welcoming, and prepared throughout the High Holidays,” they said.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
